AMTS09 Miscellaneous Construction Notes

AMTS 9.0      Miscellaneous Construction Notes

9.1  No shims will be used in tool construction, maintenance, or repair, unless approved by CEP.

9.2  All blind pockets will have .030” minimum radii on all wall intersections.

9.3  All hydraulic cylinders will be fitted with a "T" fitting instead of a threaded connection to the moving member it actuates.

9.4  All mold plates that are not stainless steel requiring plates will be plated with electrolyzed nickel or chrome, with a minimum plating thickness of .0007” per surface for corrosion resistance.

9.5  The sprue bushing orifice must be specified. The sprue bushing must be bolted or doweled to prevent rotation. Where required, the sprue bushing should be keyed to assure proper alignment with the gate and runner system.

9.6  Where they heat injection molds, an insulating material is to be incorporated into the mold design to form a thermal barrier between the mold and the platens. A second layer of thermal insulating material will be designed into the top of the mold to reduce heat loss from the molds.

9.7  Hot runner/hot manifold molds are to have separate insulation around the heated members of the mold to reduce heat transfer to the cooled mold plates. The manifold plate will be slotted for easy removal of the manifold without having to remove the wiring.
